The Mouth Body Connection
A Review of the Periodontal-Systemic Connections and In-Office Blood Testing
Presented by: Gerry J. Casazza, DMD
SPECIAL WEBINAR OFFER
Webinar Objective:
Recognizing potential life threatening conditions and executing effective patient protocols and therapies.

Webinar discussion:
  • • Review the potential association between periodontal disease and systemic disease
  • • Assess data and discuss if biologically possible
  • • Understand the role C-Reactive Protein (CRP) has in the immune system response and its relationship to periodontal disease
  • • Discuss blood-testing in the dental office along with types of tests used and their interpretation

The body of research defining relationships among periodontal disease and certain systemic diseases and disorders has been expanding. Questions have been raised regarding what information should be conveyed to health care professionals and patients.

Oral health is important at all stages of life, especially since older adults are keeping their teeth longer than ever before. In many cases, oral health problems in older patients may go undetected until there are acute symptoms.

Dental professionals have long suspected associations between periodontal disease and a variety of systemic conditions. During the past few decades, researchers have attempted to establish links between periodontal infections and cardiovascular disease as well as diabetes.

This webinar will help you decide if incorporating primary health care activities such as smoking cessation programs, screening for undiagnosed or poorly managed diabetes mellitus or a more general health care screening of diseases is right for your dental practice.

Dr. Casazza will provide a clear understanding on adopting principles and techniques that encompass all of the research behind screening patients for life threatening conditions. You will learn how to follow up with your patients so that you can increase the probability of getting case accepted and increasing the growth of your practice.

Gerry J. Casazza has been practicing dentistry for nearly 20 years and heads a highly successful preventative & cosmetic dentistry practice with two locations north of Boston, MA. He is a professional member of Dentistry for Diabetics, and has made diabetes a specialty of his practice.
